In an effort to resist the new Trump administration, progressives are condemning anyone willing to work or praise the President — even when it’s a policy matter they agree on.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) has become the latest target in the far left’s reign of terror for claiming that he plans on working with the Trump administration on trade and infrastructure spending. His praise of the President for killing the Trans-Pacific Partnership and voting for Gen. Mattis for Secretary of Defense and Gen. Kelly for Secretary of Homeland Security is driving many liberals off a cliff.
Progressive activists slammed Sanders on Twitter, claiming he is normalizing President Trump. They even said he was responsible for Hillary Clinton losing the election and charged that he’s racist.

Bernie praising Trump and saying he's "delighted to work with him" are bad for several reasons.— Marcus H. Johnson (@marcushjohnson) January 23, 2017
11. Bernie praising Trump is like how Corbyn flipped to oppose immigration. It won't win the left any new white workers. Just helps Trump.— Marcus H. Johnson (@marcushjohnson) January 23, 2017
I EXPECTED the right and media to savage Hillary's character. I DIDN'T expect @BernieSanders to lead a Hillary hate-fest that gave us Trump.— Peter Daou (@peterdaou) January 24, 2017
@peterdaou I'm a Vermonter who'll never vote Bernie again. He sullied HRC's name & convinced many young ppl never to trust the democrats.— Leora Dowling (@LeoraDowling) January 24, 2017

Sanders praises Trump for nixing TPP, ‘delighted to work with him’ on pro-worker policies.https://t.co/LkT7NbnF2U
Sally Albright, a D.C. based communication strategist, went so far as to release a 101-tweet rant declaring that Bernie was a fraud. She claimed his entire goal was to stop Hillary Clinton, despite the fact that he campaigned for her.
3/ Bernie’s "Revolution" is personality driven, not ideologically based. It was never about the issues— Sally Albright (@SallyAlbright) January 24, 2017
11/ We should stand up to Bernie's bullies. We should stand up for our nominee, our party, and especially for each other— Sally Albright (@SallyAlbright) January 24, 2017
29/ Berners are more like what you'd see from of Ron Paul supporters - vicious, externally focused, and nihilistic— Sally Albright (@SallyAlbright) January 24, 2017
33/ Bernie misled them wrt the feasibility of his policy agenda, its workability both in theory & in context of the legislative process— Sally Albright (@SallyAlbright) January 24, 2017
58/ No one has any reason or desire to do that. Most people don’t irrationally hate Hillary like the alt-left. Most people like her.— Sally Albright (@SallyAlbright) January 24, 2017
77/ Bernie's most toxic legacy has been convincing the alt-left they are the Democratic base. Our base is actually women of color— Sally Albright (@SallyAlbright) January 24, 2017
81/ But their cause cé·lè·bre was Bernie himself, not his platform. Soon the Revolution was singularly focused on STOPPING HILLARY— Sally Albright (@SallyAlbright) January 24, 2017
This division has led to an all-out war between the establishment Left and Sanders supporters. It speaks volumes that not a single candidate running for the DNC Chair would admit that Debbie Wasserman Schultz helped rig the Democratic primary for Hillary Clinton.
The real test may be in the next election cycle. Activist and journalist Al Giordano has declared that he will challenge Bernie to his Vermont Senate seat in 2018 to punish him for opposing Clinton.
