Nicholas G. Hahn III is the Assistant Editorial Page Editor at The Detroit News. His columns are regularly published in The Wall Street Journal and other major publications, focusing on faith-based issues and other topics. He is a popular speaker at Young America’s Foundation conferences and events. Before joining The Detroit News, Nick was the editor of RealClearReligion. Prior to that, Nick served in Donald Rumsfeld’s Washington, D.C. office.

He holds a B.A. in Political Science and Catholic Studies from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. While at DePaul, he was a Phillips Foundation Ronald Reagan College Leaders Scholar. Young America’s Foundation also named him among the Top Ten Campus Conservative Activists.

What was the biggest factor in your success?

The most consequential factor in my work is prayer. I go often to Our Lady with St. Josemaría Escrivá’s intercession.

What advice would you give to other millennials?

Find a mentor.

Does the GOP have a future and why?

The Republican Party will only have a future if it rejects populism and nativism, and returns to its principles of limited government, a strong national defense, traditional values, and free enterprise.
