What was the biggest factor in your success?

Every morning, I ask myself, “Who can I help and how?” and I carry that mindset inside and outside of work. I was surprised by how much I “got” when I aimed to give.

What advice would you give to other millennials?

Don’t be afraid of challenging your ideology. We sometimes get stuck in our conservative world where no one holds our opinions accountable, so discuss politics with liberal friends or read content by liberal-leaning thinkers. Force yourself to re-examine why you believe what you believe so you can best defend those beliefs. I spent 12 years in Catholic school, but I didn’t realize why I was a conservative until I went to a public college and was under attack on a regular basis. Also, don’t rely on your degree and GPA for jobs. If you want to work in politics, you must meet people and network.

Does the GOP have a future and why?

I have spoken to hundreds of college students over the last two years and many of them don’t realize how conservative they actually are. Our liberal culture has turned “Republican” and “conservative” into dirty words so millennials are naturally hesitant to identify with either. The GOP will see amazing success if it can find a way to change that narrative. The philosophy is there, but we must find a way to get the message across to millennials.
