Adam Seidel is the State Chairman of the Minnesota Young Republicans and the youngest member in the history of the Eden Prairie School Board, one of Minnesota’s largest school districts with over 8,000 students. While campaigning, Adam utilized the opportunity to experiment with new campaign tactics, developing cutting edge local campaign tactics while receiving over 70% of the vote in a heavily contested race.

A graduate of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, Adam serves as lead Administrator for State Government Finance and Veterans Affairs for the Republican Majority Caucus of the Minnesota House of Representatives, responsible for over $1 billion of Minnesota’s state budget. As an independent television media and broadcasting professional, he appears regularly as a play-by-play broadcaster for college football productions on ESPN and various regional broadcast stations, and has contributed to the Learfield Sports Network and Chicago White Sox system.

What was the biggest factor in your success?

Real service means checking your ego at the door. The ability to collaborate with fellow conservatives is crucial to grassroots service. From the national level to local party groups, egos, old grudges, or tiny differences of opinion are too often allowed to divide conservatives who should be fighting together against the left. I have been very fortunate to meet many talented people who have joined with and bolstered my various initiatives to grow the conservative cause.

What advice would you give to other millennials?

Don’t ever allow yourself to be browbeaten by the loud left in our generation. The intimidation tactics increasingly present on college campuses and even some industries reveal their immaturity when confronted calmly but forcefully. Also, because some of us need to be reminded of this sometimes, you need to bring your elbow grease. You’ll never accomplish great things or come out ahead if you get outworked.

Does the GOP have a future and why?

Without a doubt. Who else will fight for the continuation of the greatest experiment in freedom in human history? But we need to back our principles with action. Impotent sniping on social media from keyboard warriors isn’t going to advance conservative change. You need to be willing to risk entering the arena and facing the public criticism that may entail. We also need a new infusion of courage and vision that many in the comfortable establishment have failed to provide. It’s easy to say that our ideas can help average Americans – and we know they do – but when our leaders aren’t willing to propose bold solutions to emerging issues like college debt or poor economic opportunities for many communities we lose to the left by default. We must be willing to bring conservative principles to bear on these issues, even if it’s easier for the old-guard to simply ignore or mock the problem for a little while longer.
