Why is it important that at this particular point in time, right-of-center youth become involved publicly, whether in politics, media, their communities, or in other capacities?

Our country’s debt is creeping out of control by the day, so it’s important for young conservatives to step up now and prevent any further damage. If we don’t make a change it’s going to be not just us — but our children and grandchildren — who will have a burden placed on them. There is no time like the present to begin healing our country’s ailments.

What must elected officials and others in positions of leadership do to make a right-of-center message resonate with the Millennial generation?

It’s important that we as a party step away from social issues and apply more emphasis on the economy. It’s been shown that Millennials tend to lean to the right when it comes to economic principles and we need to be aware of that. I’ve found that Millennials are often somewhere in the middle of the political spectrum, so it’s best to approach them on less controversial issues, and then move to the right from there.

Where would you like to see the conservative movement in 10 years — and how can it get there?

I’d like to see conservatives proudly ranging from every age bracket. It’s important that young people learn that conservative principles do not just belong to “Old, White Men.” Being conservative has nothing to do with being exclusive, it’s all about being responsible. 2016 is our opportunity to change the public’s outlook on the conservative movement and I’m confident that it will be a positive one.
