Few young Americans will ever have the opportunity to write a New York Times bestselling book and manage a major conservative publication before the age of 30, but Jason Mattera, 28, has done that and more.

Mattera’s first book, Obama Zombies: How the Liberal Machine Brainwashed My Generation, debuted at number 14 on the New York Times bestseller list in 2010. The hit book explained why so many young people voted for President Barack Obama in 2008.

“Young people are too stupid today,” he said. “Liberalism would never stand up if young people were better educated. We need to be informed on how our money is being spent. If young people were really informed, they would not be voting for some dude like Barack Obama.”

His 2012 follow up, Hollywood Hypocrites, which pokes fun at the Hollywood celebrities who back Obama, was also a New York Times bestseller. He is also the editor-at-large of Human Events, the oldest conservative publication in America, as well as a radio personality on 77 WABC in New York.

Mattera first became involved with politics during his time at Roger Williams University, where he majored in Business Management and Journalism. At Rodger Williams he realized just how biased liberal professors can be.

“I was taken aback by how hostile campus professors are toward liberty. Conservatives are treated like second class citizens,” he said.

In order to make a difference, young conservatives need to change their cities and states, not just leadership in Washington, believes Mattera.

“Go to Seattle.  Go to Chicago.  Go to Hollywood.  Take the non-traditional routes of activism,” Mattera said.
