Brittany Cohan is the Social Media Director for the Republican National Committee (RNC) and at only 28, she is a powerful force to be reckoned with when it comes to influencing young conservatives.

She currently runs Facebook and Twitter for the RNC and oversees their blogger activity while engaging with more than 8,800 of her own personal Twitter followers.

Brittany, a 2007 graduate of Biola University, didn’t set out to make politics her career. “I don’t know if there was ever an actual start,” she recalls of her initial foray into politics. “I actually went to school to be a teacher.  [But] my hobby became my career.”

Brittany believes that federal government spending will be the largest issue facing the millennial generation. “Whether they know it or not, the debt we will be saddled with,” she said is our greatest issue. “Our individual burden just keeps growing.”

Brittany believes social media is going to help young people make a real impact on this fall’s election.  “It all starts with the individual. Some are nervous about their conservatism, that their friends might be hostile to them about their views.  Social media shows that [college-aged conservatives] are not alone.”

She encourages young people to “start networking and developing those personal relationships that can help your professional career.”

Brittany’s ideal president would “have humility and grace; someone who is not arrogant, serves the people and [realizes] the job is bigger than them.”
