Benjamin Shapiro is an editor-at-large at Breitbart News, a nationally-syndicated columnist and best-selling author, having published four books by age 28.

Shapiro graduated Summa Cum Laude from UCLA in 2004, and Cum Laude from Harvard Law in 2007.  Since then, he has gone on to be a leading voice in the conservative movement, publishing his first book, Brainwashed: How Universities Indoctrinate America’s Youth, in 2004.

Shapiro said that he was always a conservative, but really came into his own with the movement while in college.  In an era of increased spending each year, Shapiro said the economy and impending bankruptcy of the U.S. are the biggest concerns facing the country today.

“[Our generation] is upside-down.  Our parents are going to get social security, but they are getting it off our backs,” said Shapiro.

Shapiro said that in order for young people to get their start in the conservative movement, they should expose themselves to as many ideas as possible and read a lot.

“We do not need more people who are uninformed in the conservative movement.  We need people who have something to contribute.”

Shapiro said most millennials are not as conservative on social issues as their parents, and he believes conservatives should focus more on the economic issues as this would lead to more young people joining the conservative movement.

“We need people who are willing to fight, and we need every leader we can get on our side.”
