D’Souza: America Is Like The Lakers, But With A Coach That Wants Us To Lose

Dinesh D’Souza kicked of the Young America’s Foundation Freedom Conference in Raleigh, NC on Saturday morning to a crowd of college students eagerly awaiting what the Kings College President would say to them.

The theme of D’Souza’s talk was simply: who is Barack Obama and what exactly is his dream?

He gave a similar speech at CPAC last month, highlighting the President’s anti-colonial ideology with deep roots from his Kenyan father.

GOP U.S. House Members More Effective Tweeters Than Dems

Republicans are more hip to Twitter. And not just because John McCain bonded with Snooki over Twitter.

A study – “Capitol Tweets: Yeas and Nays of the Congressional Twitterverse” – conducted by the PR firm Edelman found that Republican members of Congress are more effective with using the social media tool than their Democratic counterparts.

Mean Girls: Republican Primary Style

The on-going antics in the Republican presidential primary fight right now rival the plot of a teen comedy starring Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum, with special guest appearances from Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul.

Earlier today the Romney campaign press release calling for “Senator Santorum” to drop out of the Republican primaries, saying,

“The remaining contests offer no path to 1,144 for Senator Santorum, a fact which even he has acknowledged. Each day Senator Santorum continues to march up this steep hill of improbability is a day we lose to unite in our effort as Republicans to defeat President Obama. So as Senator Santorum continues to drag out this already expensive, negative campaign it is clear that he is becoming the most valuable player on President Obama’s team.”

Romney Kicks Off Maryland Campaign in Former MD Gov Bob Ehrlich’s Hometown

Fresh off his victory in the Illinois Primary and with an endorsement from Jeb Bush in his pocket, Mitt Romney took his campaign to Arbutus, Maryland, a small town outside of Baltimore. Romney kicked off his Maryland campaign in a town hall at the local American Legion Post 109. The Maryland primary is scheduled for April 3, sharing a day with the District of Columbia and Wisconsin.

Romney appeared with former Maryland Governor Bob Ehrlich, who endorsed Romney last October. Ehrlich is the Maryland campaign chairman for Romney and Arbutus is his hometown – its working class homes have served as the backdrop for Ehrlich’s political announcements throughout this career. Ehrlich did the honors of introducing him and got rousing applause when he referred to Romney as “the next President of the United States.”

Romney Takes Illinois Primary Handily, Gingrich Vows to Fight On

As we we predicted yesterday, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has won the Illinois Primary. At the time of this post, Romney lead closest rival Rick Santorum by 20 points with 32 percent of the results in.

This is an important win for Romney as he can expect to take a good chunk of Illinois’ 69 delegates, pushing him closer to the magical number of 1,144.

Affluent Voters Find Romney the Robot “A Kindred Spirit”

Though Rick Santorum has stacked up some big wins in the past week and Newt Gingrich’s continued campaign has begun to baffle even some his supporters, the American Enterprise Institute’s Election Watch 2012 panel’s main focus this morning was on former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. Specifically the panel looked at how Romney’s appeal to the affluent and educated voters has helped him win.

The fourth session of the Election Watch 2012 panel series titled “The Race Goes On” held on Tuesday morning included Michael Barone, Senior Political Analyst at the Washington Examiner and Fox News Contributor, Henry Olson, Vice President and Direction of AEI’s National Research Initiative, Norman Ornstein, Roll Call columnist and CBS News Election Analyst. AEI’s Karlyn Bowman served as the moderator.

Olson began with giving a Major League Baseball theory: Mitt Romney wins counties that house a Major League Baseball (MLB) Team. He explained that cities that are wealthy enough to have an MLB team generally have more affluent residents. Romney continues to do well among the affluent and educated, which Olson also said can explain Romney’s big wins in state capitals.

Inhofe responds to Alec Baldwin’s ‘Oil Whore’ tweets

When Alec Baldwin quit Twitter last December after being booted from An American Airlines flight for failure to put away his cell phone (that Words With Friends game must have been intense), an era of epic Twitter-ranting came to an end.

Or so we thought.

Barely a month later, Baldwin was back in action. And, hardly one to be free from scandal for too long, Baldwin has now found himself embroiled in a new controversy with U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe.

Romney and Santorum Campaign, Newt Sightsees

While Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum were campaigning heavily in Illinois and Louisiana on Sunday, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich was VERY busy strolling along the Tidal Basin in Washington DC to look at the Cherry Blossoms.

Gingrich claimed Louisiana would be “halftime” for his campaign. I guess I didn’t realize this halftime strategy included a halftime show.

And unfortunately in order for it to be halftime, you still need to be playing the game. And by looks of things, Gingrich doesn’t appear to be interested in finishing the half.
