The recent battle in Washington between people of faith and the Obama administration about the Department of Health and Human Services’ new contraception mandate clearly illustrates that nothing is sacred in politics.

It’s situations like this that prompt blogger Thomas Peters (@AmericanPapist) to consider attempts to “silence and marginalize” conservatives and people of faith as the number one threat to the conservative movement.

Review: Oscar-Nominated Animated Shorts

Every year the Academy Award nominations for best picture and best actor and actress overshadow Oscar categories like sound and documentary. One of my favorite unsung categories – and one that’s now being highlighted in select theaters – is “Best Animated Short Film.” Five films, along with a few honorable mentions, are now shown back-to-back in what is easily one of the most enjoyable movie-going experiences each year.

New Polling Shows Obama Budget is Off Track

The nonpartisan nonprofit, Public Notice released a poll of 800 registered “likely” voters yesterday to coincide with President Obama’s proposed budget for 2013. Their findings and the President’s budget couldn’t be more different.

“When asked about the best way to grow the economy and create jobs, voters respond with a strong preference for cutting government spending and keeping taxes low (55 percent) as opposed to increasing government spending and asking the rich to pay more in taxes (36 percent),” Public Notice found. Additionally, 75 percent wanted the president to cut spending in the budget.
