Conservative political pundit Jonah Goldberg pulled no punches when discussing his recent book The Tyranny of Clichés and the ensuing book tour, slamming journalists like Piers Morgan and other unfriendly interviewers who employed the very tired, liberal cliches he highlights in his book.

Goldberg told the young crowd at the Young America’s Foundation (YAF) annual conference, “One of the many things I was unprepared for was the tendency of interviewers to think that the best way to rebut my book’s thesis was to confirm its point.”

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) urged young people to do what they can in this year’s presidential election when she addressed the Young America’s Foundation (YAF) conference Wednesday morning. She stressed the use of social media to support House and Senate candidates and ultimately, Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

Bachmann said that despite the political tide of the country in the last few years, she is optimistic about this fall’s election. However, she had a dire warning for young people, saying that there is more at stake for them, than there is for her generation.

YouTube Celebrity Zach Wahls Bashes Social Conservatism, Says It Is ‘Driven By Fear’

The tolerant and open-minded You Tube celebrity, Zach Wahls, did not mince words at the Campus Progress conference Thursday afternoon where he bashed conservatives as being motivated by fear.

“Social conservatives have done a brilliant job of setting up their point of view as an ideal of family values,” said Wahls, but he went on to say that conservatives, motivated by fear, are losing the battle for the younger generation.

Wahls said that the Left needs to come up with their own alternative take on the family in order to combat the Right. “Not only do liberals have values, but our values are superior to those on the Right,” he told the progressive crowd. “As best as I can tell, most aspects of social liberalism have been driven by pursuit of liberation from fear.”

Wahls, a staunch LGBT activist, painted a picture of two opposing world views and two competing ideologies, but from only the liberal

Progressive Campus Progress Panelists Try To Shame States That Enact Voter ID Laws

A “voter suppression” panel at the Campus Progress National Conference featured a group of panelists who made the argument that a recent string of voter ID laws in certain states are purposefully kicking minorities and students off the voter rolls. But it was Lee Rowland from the Brennan Center for Justice who made the most egregious statements regarding how voter ID laws were meant to “screw over students.”

Rowland said there were also five states that gained a “scarlet letter” when it comes to voter suppression and there are three states that have “explicitly” designed their laws to exclude students. According to him, the worst offenders include Texas, South Carolina and Wisconsin.

Rowland believes photo ID laws are generally bad because 1 in 10 Americans do not have any kind of government-issued ID.

The panel was moderated by AEI research assistant Andrew Rugg, and the panel included Neil Howe, the president and co-founder of LifeCourse Associates, Scott Keeter, director of survey research at the Pew Research Center and Ruy Teixeira, a senior fellow at The Century Foundation (TCF) and the Center for American Progress (CAP).
