Not only is MSNBC host Katy Tur accused of being anti-Trump, but she’s also being labeled as anti-trans… by her own father.
The former Trump campaign reporter, who Trump called out on numerous occasions for negative coverage, was recently profiled by the Sunday edition of the New York Times. After that interview was published, Katy’s father, Zoey Tur, called her out for being anti-trans.
Zoey, who is a transgender activist, claimed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter last July that their relationship had become strained due to her transition from male to female.
In a Facebook post, Zoey lambasted her daughter about the New York Times profile, calling Katy “transphobic” and “fearful” that Zoey’s activism will hurt her career.
“My daughter Katy said she’s ‘terrified’ to meet me,” Zoey wrote, noting that Katy still hasn’t seen her. “On June 8th I turned 57 and no call-not even an email. On Pride Sunday the NYTimes published a story about Katy that left me humiliated. The timing and optics couldn’t be worse.”
She continued. “Truth is my daughter does not support the LGBT community. She’s Transphobic and fearful that it will hurt her career as a broadcaster in these alt-right times putting career before family. In the words of Paddy Chayefsky: She’s pure television.”
Katy, in her NYT profile, disputes her father’s account and that her transition had nothing to do with the strain in their relationship, saying, “We were not on speaking terms for a little while, but that’s not because of the transition.”
It’s worth noting that Katy Tur hasn’t said anything deemed negative of the LGBT community, and her personal dealings with her father could be entirely misconstrued. However, the fact that many liberal and mainstream reporters continue with the narrative that President Trump is anti-LGBT is a bit rich when they then get a dose of their own medicine.
Liberals are still incensed that the first pro-same-sex marriage president is a Republican with easily the most pro-LGBT stances of any person in his party.
