A British police officer who was stabbed in the face during Saturday night’s attack in London took on three attackers armed with just his baton.
Chief Constable Paul Crowther said Sunday the unnamed officer “showed enormous courage in the face of danger.”
“Although he is seriously unwell, he was able to recount how he faced the attackers armed only with his baton, outside London Bridge station,” Crowther said.
“For an officer who only joined us less than two years ago, the bravery he showed was outstanding and makes me extremely proud.”
After a van struck pedestrians on London Bridge on Saturday night, three men wearing fake suicide belts exited the vehicle and stabbed a number of people, police said. Seven people died and 48 were injured.
