On Monday, Bob Owens, the editor of the pro-Second Amendment blog Bearing Arms, was found dead in an apparent suicide according to police.
Owens was found outside by a stop sign on Monday morning in Fuquay-Varina, N.C. just outside of Raleigh. While authorities are still confirming the cause of death with the coroner’s office, all signs of Owens’ gunshot wound point towards being “possibly” self-inflicted.
Shortly before his death, Owens posted a cryptic message to Facebook, writing, “In the end, it turns out that I’m not strong. I’m a coward, and a selfish son of a bitch. I’m sorry.”
Owens was 46 years old.
People who knew and worked with Owens, who is survived by his wife and two daughters, poured in to offer their condolences and even set up a GoFundMe for his family. Jenn Jacques, who worked alongside Owens, wrote a tribute in memoriam to Owens titled “We Are Diminished.”
However, some liberals decided to use the tragic loss of life to make a political statement about guns, again.
The anti-gun group Women Against Gun Violence posted a now-deleted tweet, writing, “Guns didn’t make him safer.”
Oliver Willis, who used to work for the left-wing media blog Media Matters, wrote apathetically, teetering on the edge of celebratory, “Apparently this person passed away recently.” He posted that comment along with the link to an article with the headline that reads, “Sponsor Of NRA Leadership Forum Routinely Smears Slain Black Youths And Their Families.”

Rather than taking the high road and offering condolences, Women Against Gun Violence and Willis are continuing the vicious cycle of politicization that only drives people further apart in this already divided nation.
