Criminal justice reform and police brutality aren’t subjects that should be taken lightly, unless you’re Kendall Jenner and Pepsi.
In a new ad from Pepsi, the reality TV star is seen posing for a photoshoot between images of protesters holding signs with the peace symbol and billboards reading “join the conversation.” The ad also includes an Asian man playing the cello, and a woman in hijab is sifting through her catalogue of photos.
It’s supposed to symbolize the massive amount of protests that have occurred recently from Black Lives Matter to the Women’s March after President Trump’s inauguration.
Pepsi hoped that through a lighthearted video, the complex and nuanced issues that plague our society could be solved through a soft drink.
They were dead wrong, and now Kendall and Pepsi are getting flamed on Twitter for their tone-deafness.

The inoffensive generic protest signs in Pepsi's woke Kendall Jenner ad are hilarious. pic.twitter.com/9t2h6YxCZL— Ronan Farrow (@RonanFarrow) April 4, 2017
Even Kendall’s mother, Kris, got flamed on Twitter for her daughter’s ad.
