In the age of Trump, you would think the best feuds would come from Republicans and Democrats going at each other’s throats. Think again.
The best feud right now in America is between two Republicans: Kentucky Senator Rand Paul and Arizona Senator John McCain.
While the two senators have disagreed on many issues in the past, things got heated this week when McCain accused Paul of working for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Paul objected to a proposal to have Montenegro join NATO. After Paul made his objection, he simply walked off the Senate floor.
“You are achieving the objectives of Vladimir Putin… trying to dismember this small country which has already been the subject of an attempted coup,” McCain said. “If they object, they are now carrying out the desires and ambitions of Vladimir Putin, and I do not say that lightly.”
On MSNBC’s Morning Joe on Thursday, Paul responded to McCain’s accusations.
“You know, I think he makes a really, really strong case… you know, for term limits,” Paul said. “I think maybe he’s past his prime. I think maybe he’s gotten a little bit unhinged.”
It’s the type of burn that deserves its own “Supa Hot Fire” gif.
