Professor: If I could, I’d carry a concealed gun on campus

After the Ohio State University attack in November 2016, state legislatures around the country are debating whether or not to allow guns on campus.

Texas started the concealed carry movement on campuses and it’s been going better than any liberal could have imagined. Ohio Governor John Kasich signed a bill into law in December that would give college campuses the ability to abolish gun free zones. Now, Arkansas is thinking of doing the same.

Arkansas State Rep. Charlie Collins (R-Fayetteville) has proposed a bill that would allow University employees in the state to bring their guns on campus. It will also remove a provision that would allow board of trustees from blocking employees from bringing their firearms on campus.

“I think the risk is mitigated by the fact that our carry permit holders are really educated on where and when and how they’re supposed operate,” Collins said in light of sharp criticism from university officials and campus police.

While pro-Second amendment professors around the country are in the minority, they would love to see these laws replicated in their states.

In an interview with Red Alert Politics, Tim Rosen, a professor at Queens College’s Business and Liberal Arts honors program in New York City, is afraid we’ll never see concealed carry on college campuses in blue states.

“Most liberal students don’t want guns on campus,” Rosen told Red Alert. “There’s been no shift from liberals on gun culture. They’re scared of guns. They have this weird mentality where only cops should carry guns, but then they bash cops.”

Rosen continued. “If I can get a concealed carry permit, I would carry a gun on campus. I want competent law-abiding citizens to carry in the age of ISIS and terrorists. Not just in colleges, but also sports arenas. Look at Sandy Hook, if some teachers had carried or been trained, they would’ve been able to defend themselves, and not be sitting ducks.”

The professor noted that there are some liberals who are “in the middle of the road” and are willing to listen when it comes to guns, but there’s not enough of them.

“Liberals have their ideas and aren’t going to change their mind. They hate guns just like Christianity or the Constitution. They’re just going to go on the Daily Show and come up with their reasons for why guns shouldn’t be on campus.”
