Outdoor apparel isn’t usually considered a controversial subject. However, the revelation that the heiress to the family-owned business L.L. Bean was a major Donald Trump supporter is causing liberals to call for a boycott.

The Boston Globe reported on Monday that longtime Republican activist Linda Bean has upset liberals who love her families’ company products. She was such a staunch financial supporter for Trump that she even bankrolled a PAC for the billionaire.

Liberal activists started the #GrabYourWallet campaign to boycott any businesses that sold products made by the Trump family or CEOs who financed the President-elect’s campaign.

L.L. Bean’s board chairman and great-grandson of the company’s founder, Shawn Gorman, sprang into action. He posted a message on their Facebook page stating that the beliefs of one family member are not the same for the entire company. He then begged liberals not to boycott them.

Shannon Coulter, who started the #GrabYourWallet movement, was unmoved by the statement. She demanded that if L.L. Bean really wanted to show liberals that they were sorry for supporting a “bigoted candidate,” they would remove Linda Bean from the company board.

Luckily for L.L. Bean, they may not feel the effects of the boycott, some Trump supporters have announced on social media that they intend to only buy the Maine-based company’s products in support of Linda.
