Steven Glick is hailed nationwide as a powerful advocate for free speech and for intellectual diversity, especially on college campuses. A recent graduate of Pomona College, Steven spent four years swimming against the tide of the far left, fighting against it through the voice of the Claremont Independent, a student-run publication for which he served as the Editor-in-Chief. Through his writing and speaking, Steven has exposed the hypocrisy of the over-the-top political correctness on college campuses, introducing a national audience to the current climate on campus.

He has appeared as a guest on Fox News, where he discussed safe spaces, overzealous political correctness, and the progressive left culture on his campus. Additionally, he has been interviewed on several national radio shows including NPR, and his writing has been picked up by major media outlets such as the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post. Steven is viewed widely as an advocate for free thinking students and free speech on campus, and a profile by OZY magazine highlighted his efforts to push back against the campus orthodoxy.

Steven was listed among the National Association of Scholars’ Top 10 Influencers in Higher Education, and helped the Claremont Independent earn the William F. Buckley Award for Outstanding Campus Reporting in 2015 and Collegiate Network’s Publication of the Year in 2016. His reputation as a savvy defender of free speech is perhaps best demonstrated by his ideological opponents, who made every effort to intimidate him into silence lest he persuade others to join his side. After Steven co-authored an editorial, entitled “We Dissent,” which criticized student protesters who sought the resignations of student and faculty leaders in response to a handful of students donning sombreros on Halloween and a dean’s poorly-worded email, his faculty supervisors at the Pomona College Writing Center forced him to undergo liberal reeducation until he resigned from his position. A year later, in response to his reporting on protesters’ successful efforts to block a speech by Heather Mac Donald at Claremont McKenna College, Steven’s peers circulated a petition seeking his expulsion and that of his publication’s staff. Steven uses facts and logic to support the need for free speech and ideological diversity on campus, calmly and rationally countering the emotional tirades of those who disagree with him. Through his tireless efforts, he has raised awareness of the problems of political correctness and safe spaces on college campuses, and given voice to the many students who have been silenced and censored by the progressive left.
