To be in Hollywood is to be liberal. Opposing that rule can be career suicide for almost any entertainer. So it’s especially brave when a celebrity breaks from that orthodoxy and take a conservative position.
Former Pussycat Doll turned X-Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger did just that during an interview with The Daily Mail on Tuesday when she encouraged women to keep their children rather than aborting them.
During a conversation about her role in the remake of Dirty Dancing, Scherzinger said that she almost took a pass on the part because she’s strongly pro-life. The character she plays has an abortion.
“So I got the role, and I almost didn’t take it because I didn’t want to promote abortion because my character has an abortion,” the X-Factor judge said. “But I was like, hopefully, they can learn from you know her ways, and I can be a positive influence.”
She explained that her mother had her at 18-years old. While there were social pressures to have an abortion, her grandparents were deeply pro-life.
It wasn’t until her grandfather, a preacher, gave his blessing that she even decided to take the role.
“We decided that maybe I could be a voice, that I could shed some light on the subject without being preachy,” Scherzinger said.
