Leave it to the ladies of The View to give you that spitting hot take that leaves you doing a spit take with your coffee.
On Monday’s edition of the daytime talk show, host Joy Behar dug in deep on President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet picks. It was rumored then that Trump would be picking Exxon Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson to be Secretary of State. Trump confirmed it on Tuesday morning.
I have chosen one of the truly great business leaders of the world, Rex Tillerson, Chairman and CEO of ExxonMobil, to be Secretary of State.— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 13, 2016
Tillerson, who was born and raised in Texas, was awarded the Russian Order of Friendship in 2013, and allegedly has a cozy relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Last week, the CIA said that Russia deployed computer hackers to cause chaos during the 2016 presidential election.
Behar, along with her co-host Whoopi Goldberg, are onto Trump, and believe Americans everywhere should be wary.
“Do you believe Russian hacking could actually change the outcome?” Whoopi asked rhetorically. “Yes! I do believe that. That’s what I believe.”
Behar jumped in pointing out that the RNC wasn’t hacked by Russia, saying, “If you add it to the fact that, you know, the RNC — nothing came out on them, so they hacked into the RNC’s e-mails but the Republican party, but nothing came out about that, then, you know, so possibly yes.”
Co-host Sunny Hostin jumped in to question the correlation of Russia’s hacking resulting in Hillary losing the election.
“We don’t know for sure if there’s this nexus between the Russians hacking into the DNC and Hillary losing,” Hostin said before noting how concerned she was that Trump was skipping intelligence briefings. “But I think what is most troubling is that Donald Trump is saying that we don’t know if Russia is behind the hacks when you have not one, not two, but 17 intelligence agencies agreeing that Russia, in fact, did do this to try to sway the election.”
That’s when Behar went full Joe McCarthy and gave their audience a good ol’ fashioned Red Scare by saying, “Do we have to wait until the hammer and sickle is on the American flag until we stand up to this guy?”
Behar continued. “It’s like they are discrediting the CIA. His campaign and he, the President-elect of this country is discrediting the organization that basically protects us from foreign invasion, from, you know — isn’t it time for him to step down I mean, he has to step down before the inauguration, before they give him the nuclear codes. We are at risk when the President of the United States is fighting with the CIA. That is a terrible thing.”
The Leftist ladies of The View have no sense of irony, as they supported a candidate in Hillary Clinton, who pushed for the Russian reset in an effort to normalize relations between the two nations.
