There’s such a thing as too much free time on your hands, and if you’re worried that a dog’s Halloween costume is sexist, then it’s time to find something to do or stop drinking in your home.
Abha Bhattarai wrote in The Washington Post on Thursday that it’s time to start holding dog costumes to the same set of ridiculous social justice warrior standards that pearl clutching liberals hold onto drunk college students.
“The glass ceiling appears to be firmly in place at PetSmart, where career costumes labeled “male” include firefighter and police officer, while female dogs can choose between a pink cowgirl costume and pink loofah,” Bhattarah wrote.
Social justice warriors are upset at the message they’re sending to dogs about the costumes they have to choose from — pink cowgirls or firefighters.
Scott Lawrie, a 36-year old full grown man, who’s dressing his dogs up as the cop duo Cagney and Lacey was shocked when he realized PetSmart was labeling costumes by their gender.
“I thought surely there was some reason behind this: maybe the pets needed to relieve themselves a certain way, or something like that,” said Lawrie to The Washington Post. “But all of the costumes are identical.”
Equally shocking for social justice warriors is that girl dog costumes are more expensive than boy dog costumes — the patriarchy invades another species!
Lawrie said he refuses to buy the Cagney and Lacey dog costumes until the gender labels are taken off at PetSmart.
“Even if it’s just on principle, this is important,” he said to WaPo.
This is a clear message to conservatives: don’t give in to any social justice warrior whim, there is nothing that they won’t find offensive.
Social justice warriors have more privilege than a white man wearing salmon-colored shorts and driving a big car. They’ve relieved themselves of real worries, tackling actual crises, or caring about the concerns of suffering people. They’re too busy fighting the wars of phantom sexists pushing their agenda in dog cages nationwide.
Here are some of the best gender driven dog costumes available for this years Halloween:
