The organization Future Female Leaders posed a challenge to right-leaning millennials to explain the core principles of their politics and use #ConservativeBecause to define the issues that drive their politics. Within hours, it became the top trending hashtag on Twitter.
“As conservatives, we may not see eye to eye on every issue, but at the end of the day we can agree on the same core principals that make up our party’s platform,” Future Female Leaders wrote in a Twitter post. “FFL has always strived to give our audience their own voice which is why this month we would like you to begin telling your story. Use the #ConservativeBecause, and tell us where it all began for you with a tweet, video, or picture. Why are you a conservative?”

Thousands of tweets started to fill the Twittersphere, and while some liberals tried to take over the hashtag, it mostly stayed true to its original purpose.
#ConservativeBecause I cherish the individual, liberty, low taxes and a responsive limited govt that works for and by the people. Simple.— TheFOO (@PolitiBunny) July 11, 2016
