It’s well-known that MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry isn’t a big fan of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, but on Sunday she decided to take her disdain of the 2012 presidential candidate out on his newborn grandson.
Harris-Perry was discussing various awkward photos from 2013 with her “Nerdland” panel – comedians Pia Glenn, Dean Obeidallah, Judy Gold and Jamie Kilstein – when she brought up the Romney family Christmas photo and the fact that the Romneys now have an adopted black grandchild, Kieran.
“One of these things is not like the other, one of these things just isn’t the same,” Glenn sings off-camera as the rest of the panel chuckles.
Added Harris-Perry: “My goal is that in 2040 the biggest thing of the year be the wedding between Kieran Romney and North West,” referring to the newborn daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.
Apparently the panelists also believe that the photo “sums up the diversity of the Republican party and the RNC, where they have the whole convention and they find the one black person.”
Among the other photos included in the segment were the picture of a U.S. Marine holding an umbrella over President Barack Obama during a joint White House press conference with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the selfie that Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron took during the memorial service for former South African leader Nelson Mandela.
Watch the segment below. The Romney photo comes up around four minutes into the clip.
