[WATCH] A promise the President could not keep: “If you like your insurance, you can keep it”

Barack Obama pouting sadIt’s a promise Americans heard over and over again while President Barack Obama campaigned for his healthcare law: “If you like your insurance, you can keep it.” But for thousands of people, that promise just isn’t true.

A new video from the House Republicans hits the President hard for his repeated promise that the Affordable Care Act would not result in anyone being kicked off their current healthcare plans. The ad juxtaposes the President’s remarks with video of Americans who have, in fact, lost their current coverage.

“It’s not the truth,” one woman says. “You don’t get to keep your premiums, you don’t get to keep — anything.”

“What I have right now is what I’m happy with,” another woman says. “I just want to know why I can’t keep what I have. Why do I have to be forced into something else?”

The Obama administration has received heat from all sides — from New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to members of the White House press corps — over the apparent broken promise.
