Despite the 11th-hour budget deal that put an end to the government shutdown, Democrats in Congress are not done with their hateful, mud-slinging rhetoric, with one member going so far as to call Tea Party Republicans the “domestic enemies” he took an oath to protect the country from.
Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) appeared on MSNBC’s “Up with Steve Kornacki” on Saturday morning and slammed the Tea Party wing of the GOP. The Congressman was discussing the budget deal that passed Wednesday night, and called on House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) to decide if he wanted to work the the Democratic caucus and “reasonable Republicans.”
“…and pass some bills to avoid another CR problem and shutdown and avoid the debt crisis, protect the country from these people, who really, you got to think, we take an oath to support the country against all enemies foreign and domestic, and these are the domestic enemies,” Cohen said of the Tea Party members.
But the Tennessee Democrat didn’t stop there.
“…They think they’re some kind of guerillas there to strike a blow for freedom,” Cohen said. “I think they may try to pull this off again.”
Cohen gained notoriety notoriety earlier this year when he tweeted at a “lovely” young female during the State of the Union he claimed was his “secret daughter.” DNA tests, though, revealed the 25-year-old and Cohen were not related.
