Rep. Alan GraysonFollowing the government shutdown, the American people think Tea Party Republicans are as bad as the Ku Klux Klan, according to Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.).

Grayson appeared on Politics Nation with the Rev. Al Sharpton on Thursday night, lambasting the conservative branch of the Republican Party in an extensive bout of name-calling.

“At this point, the Tea Party is no more popular than the Klan,” Grayson told Sharpton.

The Congressman said the Tea Party had absolutely no plan to help the American people, on issues ranging from jobs to housing. He accused the them of trying to bring about “the end of days as quickly as possible.”

“The Republican Party has become the largest suicide pact in history,” he added.
