Jon Stewart mocks Nancy Pelosi for talking to 5-year-old about Syria

The Daily Show logoPro tip from comedian Jon Stewart: Don’t make your argument for taking military action in Syria based on a conversation you had with a 5-year-old.

On Monday night’s episode of ‘The Daily Show,’ Stewart mocked House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi for bringing up — during a press conference, no less — a conversation she had with her grandson about Syria. The comedian called her position the “least compelling argument for war,” because, well, the child is 5 years old and doesn’t understand the issues at hand.

But even worse than bringing up her grandson’s questions about Syria was Pelosi’s response to the boy when he told his grandma he is against going to war.

“But you know they’ve hundreds of children there,” Pelosi said during the clip, trying to justify the Obama administration’s request for permission to take military action.

“Holy s**t, you said that to a 5-year-old!!??” Stewart exclaimed.

The host also mocked cable news network hosts and guests for their over-the-top reactions to the possibility of taking military action in Syria.
