It took just days and a car accident for Zimmerman to emerge from hiding, helping rescue a family from their overturned vehicle Wednesday night.
While Zimmerman didn’t actually witness the blue Ford Explorer veering off the road and flipping over, he was on the scene before a deputy from the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office arrived. Kim Cannaday, public information officer for the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, told Red Alert Politics that when the deputy arrived, Zimmerman and another man had pulled the two parents and their two children from the vehicle.
Cannaday said none of the family members suffered any injuries. She couldn’t say if Zimmerman and the other man’s aide contributed to the family walking away without any major injuries.
The vehicle overturned at the intersection of Interstate 4 and State Road 46. According to ABC, the intersection is less than a mile from where Zimmerman shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin last year.
Zimmerman quickly left the scene after speaking with a deputy.
Contrary to earlier reports, a spokeswoman from the Florida Highway Patrol told Red Alert they have not been handling the case.
