It’s been three years since the rise of the blog “Rosa DeLauro is a f—ing hipster” and yet the Connecticut Congresswoman is still trying to play coy about the term.
This week NowThis News asked DeLauro, D-Conn., about the convention. “I do not know what a hipster is,” she said. “It’s somebody who is outside the box, who is not doing the conventional,” she surmised.
She also talked about her chic (and very hipster) purple glasses and her taste in music. “I am a rock and roll fan–with my generation it’s great music and you can dance to it and I love it,” she said, adding that she counted Bruce Springsteen and Peter, Paul and Mary among her favorites. “Radio blaring, you have to have the radio blaring,” she advised.
In 2010, Yeas & Nays posed a similar line of questioning to DeLauro about her hipster classification and she also failed to fully embrace the definition then. “I consider myself a Member of Congress and, you know, people can call me whatever they want to call me,” she said at the time.
