[WATCH] ‘SNL’ ridicules Al Sharpton in cold open

fake Al Sharpton SNLAl Sharpton really doesn’t understand why the Tea Party is so upset with the IRS — but that’s probably just because Sharpton doesn’t seem to understand much of anything.

On this week’s “Saturday Night Live” cold open, Kenan Thompson spoofed Sharpton’s “Politics Nation” — and showed just how crazy Sharpton really is.

“Joining me is Dana Milbank of The Washington Post,” Sharpton said. “Dana, what is this about?”

“Well, once again, Reverend, Republicans are taking a real problem and attaching unreal political motives to it,” Milbank, played by Jason Sudeikis, said.

“Ok, but I want to know what is this about,” Sharpton countered. “I mean, you a man, but your name is Dana.”

The liberal MSNBC host frequently mispronounced words and painted the IRS scandal as a racial issue, displaying a fake chart of how much white people have been targeting by the agency compared to black people. He also confused Matthew McConaughey with Sen. Mitch McConnell, calling the actor “Senate Minority Leader Matthew McConnell.”

“Senator McConnell seems like he’s a real laid-back fella,” faux Sharpton said. “Why are the rest of these Republicans so outraged?”

“Well, because the Tea Party does actually have a case here,” Milbank reponded.

Despite what his guests said, Sharpton didn’t seem able to address the real issue, instead getting distracted by his guests’ names and appearances or his own weight and hair. Guess the IRS scandal is just too complicated for Sharpton to grasp.
