Joe Biden at Sen. Heidi Heitkamp’s swearing in: “Spread your legs, you’re gonna be frisked”

Vice President Joe Biden is at it again — sticking his foot in his mouth, that is.

During the mock swearing in of North Dakota Senator-Elect Heidi Heitkamp, held at the U.S. Capitol on Thursday, a cameraman told Biden, Heitkamp and her family to drop their hands to their sides in a group photograph.

“Spread your legs, you’re gonna be frisked,” Biden responded in a mumble.

Heitkamp started laughing, and Biden explained himself.

“Drop your hands to the side — you say that to somebody in North Dakota, they think it’s a frisk,” he added. “Drop your hands to the side. They think you’re in trouble, right?”

Just another instance in a long list of awkward Biden incidents, including forgetting what state he’s in, cuddling with a biker chick and referring to himself as a homeboy to Hurricane Sandy victims.

And who was it who selected Biden as a running mate? Oh, right. President Obama.
