Sen. Dick Durbin pays tribute to Harry Reid with The Killers lyrics

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) paid tribute on Wednesday to the long career of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) by quoting lyrics from the Nevada state song, as sung by The Killers.

“Deep in the heart of the golden west, home means Nevada to me,” Durbin said, according to tweets from those listening.

Durbin, the Senate Majority Whip, also called them a “young rock group.” At age 31, lead vocalist Brandon Flowers is the youngest member of the group that was started in 2001.

Reid, who is Nevada’s longest serving Senator, shares his Mormon faith with Flowers. The Killers played at a July 2010 rally for Reid’s re-election campaign.

The Killers are also popular with former Massachusetts governor and GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who told Parade magazine they “are one group I enjoy.”

I didn’t know the Mafia had any Mormons in it. Is that what the new TV show is all about? How did Dirty Harry become a millionaire while being a Senator? Where’s the damned budget Harry?

My goodness, how many Mormons ARE there in the government?
