‘Modern Family’ character dishes healthcare insult at President Obama

Though the president has admitted that he’s a fan of ABC’s “Modern Family”, the Emmy-winning comedy didn’t reciprocate the love in last night’s episode. The typically apolitical sitcom dished a quick one-liner at the president during a scene involving healthcare.

In last night’s episode, titled “Arrested,” 13 year-old Luke Dunphy (played by Nolan Gould) suffered from an allergic reaction to soy and was sent to the hospital. When three year-old extended family member Lily Tucker-Pritchett (played by Aubrey Anderson-Emmons) visited his bedside and inquired about the presence of an IV drip, Dunphy stated, “I don’t know but thanks to Obama, you’re paying for it.”

The casual jab suggests that even liberal Hollywood writers can’t escape the reality that is the expensive repercussions from Obamacare and that the president’s signature legislation is sure to saddle the younger generation with the looming bill. What’s more, the insult suggests that the show’s writers have rejected the California government’s ploy to indoctrinate viewers with pro-Obamacare propaganda by targeting Hollywood entertainment.
