RAP editor Francesca Chambers criticizes the politicization of Hurricane Sandy on Russia Today

Red Alert Politics editor Francesca Chambers joined “The Big Picture” host Thom Hartmann, a progressive, and Austin Peterson of Freedomworks, a Libertarian, on Wednesday night to discuss Hurricane Sandy’s affect on the presidential race and Mitt Romney’s latest ads.

Our editor criticized efforts to politicize Hurricane Sandy and questioned why the media is zeroing in on issues of less substance rather than focusing on the investigation into the attack on the U.S. consulate in Libya that took the lives of four Americans.

Francesca appears on the show from the 8:50 minute mark to the 28 minute mark in the episode (with a commercial break in the middle).

Thank you, Francesca, for your calm approach to Thom Hartmann. I so wish political dialogues did not involve so many interruptions. I need a transcript to hear everything that was said. I am following you and Kelsey O. these days.

Pretty sure the other guy was interrupting the host with contradicting facts to his own argument the entire time (those disaster numbers were bigger every president). Francesca’s point is taken, but Christie doesn’t represent Congress or the average Congressional Republican’s thoughts on FEMA cutting….especially now.

As for the campaign stunt…Yes. That’s exactly what it was. If Obama was on the other side he would have done the same, because his face had to be shown on that crisis. It’s a necessary stunt for a political campaign to have, especially that close to the event. I don’t think anyone would deny that objectively.
