David Letterman is getting desperate to get Mitt Romney on his show, saying people shouldn’t vote for him if he refuses to appear.
Romney has 39 days to stop ignoring his program, Letterman said Thursday night.
“Well, the current president, President Obama, was on the show last week. The challenger, Mitch [sic] Romney, has not been on the show,” Letterman said. “We have asked him to be on the show, we have, any night, any time, short notice, whatever he wants. He can be on the show. He’s got 39 days.
“Now, I don’t want to persuade anybody unnecessarily, but if he’s not here in 39 days, don’t vote for him.”
The late-night host protested saying he is a registered independent who is an equal-opportunity mocker who “doesn’t have a dog in the fight.”
“The Romney people have done a first-rate job of snubbing us,” Letterman said.“It just so happens that Mitt is just funnier than Obama.”
The Romney campaign hit the late-night circuit earlier this week with Ann Romney appearing on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
