In a web video making its way around the internet this morning, an enthusiastic Obama supporter is seen shouting praise for the president who she claims gave her a free phone. “Everybody in Cleveland, no minority, got a Obama phone,” the woman said protesting at a Romney rally in Bedford, Ohio yesterday.
And she believes the president’s generosity extends beyond phones: “Keep Obama in president, you know. He gave us a phone, he gonna do more,” she told the videographer.
The videographer/reporter, presumed to be RealFreeom1776 who posted the video on YouTube, then asked her how she received a free phone. “You sign up if you on food stamps, you social security, you got low income, you disability,” she replied.
And because she was protesting a Romney event, it was fitting for the reporter to ask her, “And what’s wrong with Romney again?”
Her articulate response was short and sweet: “Romney, he sucks! Bad!”
Regardless of the fact that Obama did not give anyone a free phone and that any federal assistance she received in fact comes from taxpayers, it is voters like this who see no problem with heavy dependence upon the government, aka, taxpayers. They will continue to vote for the man they believe provides “free” anything.

There actually is a program that’s been done where poor people are given cell phones so that they can find a job. She probably did receive a cell phone from the federal government.
And where does the money come from for these phones? From a tax added to the phone bills of those of us who actually pay for our phone service! Maybe this video is a hoax, but I’ve seen a lot more like it.

Actually, I am one of the 47%. I am a military retiree with 40% disability, a widow of a Viet Nam veteran who died of an Agent Orange related illness. I also have a BA, and a couple of graduate certificates. I will be voting for Barack Obama. To base your hatred and decision on videos of clearly delusional or addled people and generalizing that this represents all of the 47% is ludicrous and insulting.
The whole Romney 47% thing wasn’t intended to be a catch phrase. he was merely stating that the majority of those who depend on the government will not vote for him. There is nothing untrue about that. So why focus his money and effort on a lost cause. In the same way Obama will not focus his resources on “white, conservative males.” I can’t remeber the exact word for word phrasing, but Obama did say something like the power demographic for him to win would be those who are dependent on the government. That to utilize these citizens would be key in his political success. I believe this was on the same tape from ’98 where he says he believes in redistribution of wealth. Point being,, that although not all of those who do not pay taxes (myself included, I get all of my money back at tax time) are do nothing weirdos, the fact remains that a lot of them are. The assumption that this lady is representing a large majority of the ’47%’ is not so far fetched that you should take offense.
If you have a BA, you would understand what Romney was talking about,… there is nothing he can do to win the 47%… they will always vote democrat because of their dependency on the government. Specially since his political platform is about cutting taxes, cutting regulations, cutting expending and putting people back to work.
I do not like wellfare, I can say that out loud because I’m latina (hahaha), because there are a lot of people, perfectly healthy, young, smart enough to apply for a job at any walmart, mc donalds, taco bell, hotel, restaurant, etc, and instead choose to stay in their houses collecting money from the government.
I DO think is necessary to have wellfare or some social programs for people like yourself, truly disable, sick, impaired, vet, etc.
But let me ask you this: what is going to happen when WE RUN OUT OF OTHERS PEOPLE MONEY? a.k.a China?
You made Romney’s point exactly. You will not be voting for him. The governor was not marginalizing the 47% as human beings, he was merely analyzing and stating the political FACTS. He has about 44-45% of the voting base, Obama has about 47%. He cannot get their votes, as yours and countless others have duly noted very publicly. He has to focus on the swing 4-5%. Of course the media does its best to convince the naive or uneducated, the exact opposite. It is a sociological phenomena in Euprope. More free stuff, more dependence on government, government goes broke, more public outrage and yes, a sense of entitlement. Those of us who want a responsible safety net for the disenfranchised, would never be in favor of denying services to truly needy Americans.
Under the “Universal Service Fund” you can get a free phone with 250 minutes of calls and 250 text. There are multiple ways to qualify. If you are on food stamps Medicaid, SSI, or School free lunch you qualify!

This all makes sense. If I were a democrat I would walk around town and ask people if they would like a free cell phone. Then I would ask if they are registered to vote. This has been done so many times in the past by both parties not with cell phones mind you but a simple way of increasing the vote without doing anything illegal.

It’s unfortunate that Obama will get a lot of votes my some cheap marketing ploy like this…it’s like little kids getting happy meals at McDonald’s just for the toy.
