Another American Symbol Hijacked, Jessica Alba tells voters to “Pledge Allegiance to Obama”

Actress Jessica Alba sent out an e-mail to supporters Thursday morning asking voters to pledge allegiance to the things they care about and pledge to vote for Obama.

Alba’s e-mail is part of the “For All” campaign launched by the Obama administration which makes reference to the, “liberty and justice for all,” part of the pledge of allegiance.

“Growing up, my classmates and I started every day with a ritual: We’d stand up, put our right hand over our hearts, and say the Pledge of Allegiance,” Alba wrote. “To me, that gesture was a promise. A promise to be involved and engaged in this country’s future. A promise to work for liberty and justice — and for affordable education, health care, and equality — for all.”

The campaign shows celebrities and others posing with their hand over their hearts, in the traditional stance of the Pledge of Allegiance, but this time with what they are pledging for scribbled across their hand.

They are asking all supporters to write down their reasons and then to take the pledge to vote.

“Make sure you’re ready to vote this fall. Putting your hand over your heart is making a promise. Casting your ballot is keeping it,” said Alba.

And the Pledge of Allegiance is not the only American icon that Obama has sequestered for his campaign purposes, his campaign has also hijacked the American flag, replacing the traditional 50 stars with the Obama campaign logo.

What’s next, the National Anthem?
