Boxed Wine gets all Dressed up

Fashion has officially become drinkable. Recently, Swedish winemaker Vernissage released their new designer “wine handbag” in Europe. The handbag comes with an arm strap for no-fuss carrying, and also features an easy pour tap so that wine lovers everywhere can carry three liters of their favorite wine and drink it, too.

Clothed in a shimmering checkerboard pattern, the handbag comes in three colors: white for Chardonnay Viognier, black for Cabernet Shiraz, and pink for Rosé. Boxed wine has never looked so classy.

The official website boasts, “The successful project was created by Takis Soldatos, Oenoforos, in cooperation with Sofia Blomberg Art Direction & Design.”

The creators explain on the website, “The thought behind Vernissage is a playful approach to the curious and modern wine customer. At the same time, a woman’s touch has propelled the Bag-in-Bag wine from the practical to the elegant.”

The wine handbags are now on sale in Europe, and will be available in the United States in mere weeks. Will Americans buy into this new “trend” and ditch the boring bottle for the more “fashionable” handbag? Only time, and wine, will tell.
