The Obama Campaign released a new education video at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) Wednesday night, which praises Obama’s increase in Pell Grants for college students.
It features a young immigrant woman, who received her citizenship in February of 2012, who claims that she can now afford college because of Obama’s pell grant bill.
“When he doubled the pell grant it was a really big deal because more students can go to school,” she says. “The pell grant changes our lives in a way we don’t imagine.”
What the video doesn’t mention is that Obama has actually cut over $11 billion in funding for Pell Grants over ten years, mainly by limiting the number of students that will be eligible for Pell Grant funds and by lowering the yearly amount.
