MSNBC cuts every speech made by a minority from RNC speech coverage

MSNBC wants you to think the Republican Party hates minorities. So much so that the liberal news network cut minority speeches from its convention coverage.

When popular Tea Party candidate Ted Cruz, the GOP nominee for Senate, took the stage, MSNBC cut away from the Republican National Convention and the Hispanic Republican from Texas’ speech.

MSNBC stayed on commercial through former Democratic Rep. Artur Davis’ speech, as well. Davis, who recently became a Republican, is black.

Then, when Puerto Rican Governor Luis Fortuno’s wife Luce’ Vela Fortuño took the stage minutes later, MSNBC hosts Rachel Maddow and Chris Matthews opted to talk over the First Lady’s speech.

And Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval? Noticeably missing from MSNBC, too.

Mia Love, a black candidate for Congress in Utah, was also ignored by MSNBC.

Will MSNBC conveniently manage not to show Governor Luis Fortuno’s speech tomorrow (Wednesday night) as well?

Former Secretary of State and prominent black conservative Condoleezza Rice is also slated to speak at tomorrow night’s convention.

Note: To MSNBC’s credit, it did show South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley’s speech last night. Haley is an Indian American. However, she is not conventionally considered a minority.

So possibly a dozen people missed some good speaches. If they are MSNBC viewers, they would never have understood if they had had the opportunity to see them anyway.

  2. JIM WHITTAKER says:

The reason all those people (all of them!) on MSNBC are always so angry is simply because
nobody, and I mean nobody, is watching them.

How pissed off Crissy and Eddie must be that they get at best a few hundred thousand per
show and BillO and Sean get a few million.

They all remind me of a fish flopping around on the river bank in its final death throes.

They must dreading in their heart of hearts the evening of November 6th.

Gonna be fun to watch ‘em, though…

“The lady doth protest too much, methinks.”.

    2. Erik Wilson says:

You’re right Jim… November 6th was a blast. We’ll sure showed Crissy ad Eddie, huh? Fox News is damaging the Republican party and the sooner those a##holes get overthemselves the better for us all.

  3. Clayj says:

Thanks for posting this — I’ve shared it with my conservative friends. We’re all outraged at MSNBC’s blatant racism.

  4. Frank Davis says:

That’s because MSNBC is a racist network.

  5. Kathteach says:

OK – This is precious. I posted to you all to let you know that I linked your post to Twitter friends an hour ago and I am actually getting complaints about how slow your link uploads.

Then – when I posted my comment to you – I kid you not. I got a message from Word Press saying “You are posting comments too quickly. Slow down.”

Holy Cow, And Good Moses. You can not be a real website in 2012.

Never again will I link to you. Am I typing slow enough for ya’ll? To whom do you owe your cookie souls?

  6. tiger4truth says:

So MSNBC is a racist media outlet as evidenced by banning minority speakers? Not really a surprise considering their fixation on race and calling anyone who doesn’t agree with them a racist..

  7. James says:

Could it be that MSNBC didn’t show the speeches because they just wanted to show the main speeches?

  8. Montjoie says:

Well, of course! Because Republicans are racist!

  9. Emerson says:

MSNBC’s 26 viewers were happy The Narrative was maintained.

  10. Will says:

MSNBC wonders why they still continue to hemorrhage viewers? As usual it takes the new media to do the job the old one won’t.

  11. Mr. Smithers says:

Why does MSNBC hate diversity and censor the speech of minorities? MSNBC has made common cause with the party that does not judge people by quality of their character but rather by the color of their skin. This is the party with the worst history of racism, segregation, police dogs, lynching, and fire hoses. Obviously the rant of Chris Matthews was nothing but a shrill cover for the apparent institutional racism that flourishes at MSNBC. If MSNBC actually believed in what they preach they would have more racial and political diversity on the network. Instead, the network maintains a media plantation. Tow the race-based ideological line or be silenced. Tell MSNBC that you support freedom of speech regardless of the color of one’s skin or political views and that you embrace true diversity rather than plantation politics that seeks to divide our nation and silence minority views.

MSNBC: Where journalists go to fail.

  13. lukuj says:

Does this surprise anyone? MSNBC doesn’t try to hide the fact that it will do anything to support Democrats, Obama, and the liberal/progressive agenda. If that means it has to ignore minority speakers at the convention, so be it. Why would MSNBC be reluctant to do that when it allows Chris Matthews and Ed Schultz to spout their hate, lies, and distortions for Republicans/conservatives on a daily basis?

  14. Michael says:

I watched that last night. The idiot Demo drones had not one positive thing to say during the entire coverage. I switched back and forth between the Demodrones and Fox News. How dare anyone say Fox News is not real news when MSNBC is nothing more than the propaganda network for Obama. They are truly a joke and anyone who takes what they have to say as truth are just delusional.

  15. Paul Bussell says:

As a graduate of Kansas State, I thought I would never agree with anything that comes from a jayhawk. You have proved me wrong. Keep up the good work. If a wildcat and a jayhawk can find common ground, we may very well see positive change from this election!

  16. Ontheright says:

I don’t think the msnbc audience will have any effect (good or bad) on the rest of society, in general…I would doubt there are enough viewers to require more than a yugo for a car pool.

MSNBC viewers missed out cuz the speakers were dynamic and compelling. Many had parents or grandparents who emigrated to this country to pursue the American Dream. Repeatedly we heard We Build.

What will Democrats offer us next week at their convention? We Blame?

  21. PalmerBill says:

The crew at MSNBC knows that with their perpetual low ratings, they are all out of a job when this election is over. They only exists to be a propaganda outlet for an outlaw regime.

  22. Matt says:

I am surprised that you actually are one of 12 people that watch MSNBC. The tones on that channel are positively absurd. That being said, I didn’t see Fox showing those people much either other than an insert placed below the commentators.

  23. Ida says:

Who watches MSNBC anyway??? They only have the lowest rating of any cable news broadcast. Personally, I wouldn’t watch that bag of used dogfood, Chris Matthews, on a bet! We all know they are biased, dishonest, and in the tank for communism!

Thank God for CSPAN, where we can watch the conventions without intervention! I am sick of opinionated talking heads that don’t know squat, trying to convince everyone that they are the experts, and that we should listen with baited breath!

  24. Brnda Bergwitz says:

Now I no why I don’t watch your show you are so biased yo and the rest CNN ABC,CBS,NBC, except Fox Wale Up Chris Matthews if you all had done your job -4- years ago and Vetted Obama but oh I remember Chris Matthews Obama sent chills up & down your legg’s

  27. Richard Clark says:

I’ll have to take your on it. No one I know watches MSNBC. If you did GOD bless you for your sacrifice. It would have made my ears bleed, or head explode. Their entire lineup is on Cretan on display after another. Too much for me. But as for MSNBC cutting minority speeches, that I have little doubt. They have purposely and without regard to human life edited tapes and fabricated stories, in the hopes of starting riots, which they have done, causing property damage, and the severe beatings of American citizens and in some cases death. They are openly trying to stir up insurrection and civil war in our republic. This I believe with every fiber of my being. The Owner and his surrogates deserve to be tried for treason and insurrection, and sentenced to life in prison.

    1. dan says:

MSNBC was wrong to cut those speeches from the RNC coverage, but every side, no matter rep or dem or independent, are trying to get what they want…in these modern years the back and fourth has degraded into a smear campaign by both sides…BUT besides the political opinions and withholdings from msnbc, they still have decent programming with shows that show prison life, addiction problems, and that taboo show…for all of us to understand what is really going on, we have to step back and look at every aspect of the situation to make an informed decision, but only if we want to step out of the self-perscribed darkness that covers most of our eyes…

    2. wisdomace says:

how about proofreading your text before you print it. It is riddled with misspellings and entire words missing. Give me a break.

      1. BMOC says:

How about you capitalize your sentences?

    3. Phil Cooper says:

Richard, didn’t you mean “cretin”? We wouldn’t want to offend natives of Crete.

    4. Montana Mom says:

Sure would like to see some examples. Do you have some specifics? I know about the tape editings that led to the false narratives about ACORN supposedly helping pimps and the one that got that lady from the Department of Agriculture fired, but those were both done by conservatives. Could you give examples of the ones you’re talking about that started riots? Thanks!

    5. pete says:

Richard, I can verify this article.

I had 4 TVs going, comparing coverage by Fox, CSPAN, MSNBC and CNN. Matthews and Maddow did in fact keep the camera on themselves and talk over every minority speaker except Nikki Haley. They also commented on the lack of quality minority speakers, each trying to out-do the other in condemnation of all things conservative.

On CNN Blitzer had his colleague also cut away from many speakers to discuss ‘prominent’ Republicans who would not be seen speaking. Two of those specifically mentioned that I remember in particular were Ron Paul, who had his own agenda at the RNC, and Bobby Jindal, who had his hands full taking charge of caring for his own state. Pretty chicken sierra commentary from Blitzer and whoever, if you want my opinion.

Fox coverage was good as usual, but since it was during the time slots of O’Reilly and Hannity, there was a lot of switching back and forth. The only major draw back was O’Reilly had Alan Colmes on, and he seems to have a mental blockage when it comes to respectful silence when it is the other guy’s turn to speak.

CSPAN was best of all. Good coverage of ALL speakers.

      1. Jim Magwood says:

It will be interesting to see how they all “report” on the O-man and his tribe when they begin spewing. Deceit, dishonesty and degradation of the U.S. are his (their) stock in trade. How far will he take America down? Four more years and he’ll likely go all the way. I wonder what the news will report then?

        1. Dolores Mills says:

“and his tribe”. What’s that all about? A thought for you to ponder…How do you recall the economic status of America four years ago and what have you done to favorably support it?

    6. K. Brown says:

If you’re going to sling insults, especially those deriding the intelligence of someone or something else, then it would behoove you to at least spell your words correctly, lest you end up appearing the cretin yourself. As for the libelous insinuation of MSNBC fabricating stories, perhaps you could provide a citation or two? Furthermore, please cite how you determined their motivation for same (i.e. “in the hopes of starting riots, which they have done, causing property damage.”)

Also, please cite these severe, death-causing beatings of Americans that are attributable to MSNBC.

Finally, please demonstrate how a news channel is trying to “stir up insurrection and civil war in our republic.”

This type of hyperbole serves no one.

    7. Ed Chavez says:

Only someone from the alternate universe can come up with such an imagination as yours.

    8. Fred Cameron says:

You’ve got quite an imagination…crawl out from under your bed and get a life!

    9. GPenn says:

LOL, really? If you actually watched MSNBC . You would have seen they even cut Mcdonnell’s speech in half, because they were still doing analysis on a previous speaker. They barely showed any of the minor speakers at all. Now on the other hand, I notice your outrage does not extend to the fact the GOP loaded the front rows with minorities last night. Those same minorities won’t have those seats on Thursday night when Romney accepts the nomination. And in what world do you think Indians are not considered a minority in this country? That little qualifier may work for your narrative, but it has no truth in reality.——————————-I reposted this as a reply, since it doesn’t look like my comment got posted by itself.

    10. Dot says:

Richard,. I know what you mean. I only switch over to MSNBC on occasion to see what stupidity they are spewing.

    11. Lizbeth says:

You are repeating false accusations..msnbc is not like the Republicans..Liars and cheats…So plz get the facts first before you speak like that …

    12. Tom says:

I watched Condi Rice, N. Mex Gov Martinez, they were both pretty good…but most of the speakers are not giving us the vision of the GOP…no details…just obama/dem bashing…gets tiresome…why dont they tell us the plan for Iran..medicare…education…jobs…etc…is that the more we learn the less we will like…..

  28. kage says:

Classic MSDNC. In full cheerleading mode for the Obama election. They dont even try to hide it.

    1. Montana Mom says:

Are you saying, at least FOX tries to hide their Republican support?

      1. ann burdette says:

In it’s op-ed pieces FOX doesn’t hide their slant, or pretend to be balanced. That’s the obvious difference between Fox and msnbc. Msnbc pretends to be unbiased in their news-item pieces. Montana Mom will easily recognize that when Fox reports it offers a balanced view, (no “tingles up the leg”).

  30. Wayne Lewis says:

This proves beyond a shadow of a doubt…MSNBC is a racist organization. They only want to show white people speaking. I think the FCC should find out what is behind their racist behavior. They should be ashamed of themselves, blocking minorities from the freedom of speech. The only thing good to say is, only 652 people were watching.

    1. Bob says:

Hello Wayne, You must understand that the minority that introduced Mitt Romney was a Women who was Puerto Rican by nationality and a White women by race ! What is your real point?

    2. Ro says:

You make some VERY GOOD POINTS!

    3. sarah says:

Mia Love: MNSBC was in commercial; Fox aired Shepard Smith‘s coverage of Hurricane Isaac from New Orleans.
Brian Sandoval: MSNBC aired hurricane coverage; Fox’s Sean Hannity interviewed Rep. Eric Cantor.
Ted Cruz: MSNBC cut to panel analysis of the convention; Fox went to commercial and returned with a Scott Walker interview.
Artur Davis: MSNBC aired panel discussion, mentioned his speech 5 minutes in, but didn’t air it; Fox aired the entirety of the speech.
Nikki Haley: both MSNBC and Fox News aired the speech.
Lucé Vela Fortuño: MSNBC aired more roundtable discussion; Fox News cut away to discussion by Bret Baier and Megyn Kelly.
So with the exception of former Rep. Davis, MSNBC did not omit any speeches that Fox News did not also omit.

  31. Marcus says:

The real question is, why are the folks at MSNBC such racists, and won’t allow people of color on their airwaves!

    1. Krista says:

It’s not that they’re being racist- they just want YOU to think that REPUBLICANS are racist. They have black people on their show all the time..but only when they’re screaming about how the white man is evil.

  33. Greg says:

Wouldn’t that, in MSNBC’s view, mean that MSNBC is “racist”?? That would be the normal response from them if Fox News had done that or if anyone had done that at the DNC convention. I think someone needs to start spreading the word that MSNBC is a racist network.

  34. Rich K says:

Are we surprised that MSNBC (aka The Obama Network) cut up speeches? It’s surprising to me that they even carried the convention. More and more the Dems sink lower and lower. There was a report in Politico that an unidentified delegate threw nuts at a CNN black camerawoman and said “that’s what we feed to the animals.” I think that unidentified person was the same one who allegedly spat on the black congresspersons after ObamaCare was passed. If people don’t push back against this type of reporting then it will continue.

    1. Chris says:

You realize that the RNC confirmed and apologized for the incident right?

I hope you also realize that Fox News didn’t cover these speeches either. Quit believing everything you see on Conservative blogs and look up some actual facts…

  35. [...] Francesca Chambers at Red Alert writes: MSNBC wants you to think the Republican Party hates minorities. So much so that the liberal news network cut minority speeches from it’s convention coverage. [...]

  36. Patrick McCarron says:

MSNBC did show most of South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley’s speech last night. HOWEVER, they conviently also cut the begining part of her speech where she introduced herself and discussed her Indian American ancestery. They tuned into her speech about 2 minutes after she started speaking. This article is so true, I was flipping back and forth between Fox, CNN, and MSNBC, and noticed the exact same thing, that whenever a “minority” spoke, MSNBC conviently cut away.

    1. Joey says:

Not what I saw. I heard her talk about her Indian heritage and how her parents started a business in their living room which went on to earn millions. I have U-verse, if that has anything to do with breakaways.

  37. justapatriot says:

Why does anyone even watch msnbc? I tuned into the convention via C-SPAN and have no commercials, or talking heads from either side to spoil what is being done and said at the convention. I highly recommend it.

    1. juandos says:

Why does anyone even watch msnbc?“…

Good question which could be followed up by, “why is MSNBC still broadcasting?“…

      1. Zsolt says:

Very interesting inetvriew. Specifically to see Stewart take an opposing view to the far left, or even the regular left. It really shows towards the end of the clip with the issues surrounding Iraq and George Bush’s search for WMDs. – Makes me wonder if he looks for opportunities to counter leftist media because he is truly on a quest for unbiased and/or unsensationalized’ media, or rather if it’s more about making himself seem as though he is capable of surveying an issue from a neutral standpoint. Seems a little altruistic and self-serving to me. I think it resonates perfectly with his humble non-honourable self-depiction to paint him as the hero of American media. I love him, but not ready to go there yet Great post.

  38. Patrick M says:

MSNBC may have shown most of South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley’s speech last night. HOWEVER, they cut out the first 2 to 3 minutes of her speech where Haley introduced herself and discussed her American Indian ancestry. This article is so true, I noticed the same thing last night when I was flipping between Fox, MSNBC, and CNN. MSNBC cut out all the speeches by minorities. Probably half the people that watch MSNBC are Republicans like myself just trying to hear the liberal spin on news. Most Democrats don’t watch the news or get their news from the Daily Show and Colbert Report, not MSNBC.

    1. Scott says:

Just a heads up…she is not of American Indian heritage. She is the daughter of Indian IMMIGRANTS. She stated that in her speech and it can also be found on her website.

  41. Timmer says:

So what do you expect from the network that had Niger Innis as a guest, inserted an extra g in his first name, then claimed it was an accident?

  42. Cel says:

I actually tried to watch the MSNBC coverage but only lasted about 20 minutes. It was more like a Democratic rebuttal show. They would show a speech and then talk about all the ways the speaker was “wrong.” (Mostly lying with statistics and ‘interpreting’ for the viewer what the speaker actually meant.) it was pathetic for a supposed news show. As a former journalism student, shows like that make me sick. The ideal of journalism is that you deliver the news in such a way that no one will be able to tell what your personal feelings are on the story. That’s why you would have the Editorial section. That was where people would talk about their personal feelings and ideas. Now every news story is an editorial.

  43. Stealth Conservative says:

Even now, if you go to there is a link to view the speeches and every minority speech is missing from the lineup

  44. GARY says:

Can not watch msnbc they are out to ruin this couiontry with their bias agenda

  45. LindaF says:

Yes, but the other networks did their part to muffle minority speech – Diane Sawyer talked to other commentators, and urgently needed a hurricane update – RIGHT DURING Haley’s speech.

    Coincidence? I think not.

  46. James Libbe says:

By ignoring minority speakers in its RNC coverage, MSNBC can perpetrate the narrative propagated by Reverend Al and the DNC that the Republicans are a “white folks only” party. The Democrats should be paying MSNBC for being its propaganda arm. Maybe then, this network would be profitable

  47. Woody says:

Just let them continue to do this kind of thing. The are running the independent to the republican side.

  69. Bob says:

Did you ever question that what you are doing to make a living has an ill effect on society? And that your humane justifications of trying to survive in this world is meaningless when our maker judges us? Do you devote your time to exposing the lies of your political opponents while excusing or ignoring the lies of your allies?

  70. GPenn says:

LOL, just as I suspected. There is no dissenting views allowed here. You show your fake outrage over the claimed wrong by MSNBC, but you won’t post any other views. You are worse then what you claim. You are a propaganda hack, masquerading as a journalist. I’m sure your Professors would be real proud of you.

  71. patrice says:

We had three TVs going simultaneously, one on MSNBC, one channel set at FOX, & my son had C-SPAN We could not help but laugh in absolute shock at the obvious and disingenuous reporting of MSNBC. They have purposely through selective choosing of what to see, deprived their willfully ignorant viewers an unfair shake. No wonder we have such an uninformed public not smart enough to check other channels to see that they are being lied to. What a pitiful bunch at msnbc.

  72. Latino says:

Sounds like they are giving Latino speakers prime time:

This take of racism on your web-page is, to say politely, not correct.

  73. Hugo says:

The latest lie coming from the obama camp is that Paul Ryan’s statement about the Janesville, WI GM plant closing – obama’s drones are saying the plant closed in 2008 under Bush.

The Janesville GM plant didn’t close until June 2009. I am from Janesville, and I lost my job at GM – June of 2009.

  74. rex says:

Unfortunately what you are not saying is that FOX NEWS omitted the same speeches from their coverage except for one. You can’t pick and choose what to spin without first researching what the conservative station is doing as well. It’s hypocritical. Below is an article from It breaks down the coverage by network and basically shows that most omitted these speeches. Please stop making things worse than they really are. This petty 3rd grade crap has got to stop with both parties.

  75. tom lowe says:

msnbc is owned by ge world’s largest military contractor so how can it be liberal when it is a war criminal

  76. Tom Lowe says:

MSNBC is owned by GE, world’s largest military contractor, so cannot be liberal when it is a war criminal.

  77. Tiffany says:

    Dear Francesca,

Bravo on a bang-up hard-hitting expose on the blatant liberal left-wing conspiracy headed by the “lamestream” media outlets such as the MSNBC and the Iraq.

Like you, I too am a girl reporter! Your articles always give me the courage to pick myself up by the bootstraps, powder my nose, and keep on digging for the truth! Sometimes I watch the MSNBC for a balanced perspective, but their reporters aren’t as cute as the ones on Fox, UGH!

If I have to interview a real Liberal, I will disguise myself with lots of denim and scarves, and I won’t wash down there for a few days, so I fit in better! I think Paul Ryan is cute and very smart, he used to have a black girlfriend, but the MSNBC won’t show that either OMG!

Keep up the great work girl!

  78. North Light says:

Seems that each one could choose their own coverage. I was following speeches live on Huffington Post while sometimes watching analysis and coverage from MSNBC. Msnbc is a private tv channel and is not obliged to air anything but what they deem interesting to air. An uninterrupted rnc airing would surely leave more ppl asleep than watching. For those wanting uninterrupted coverage, be grateful for the government supported CSPAN while we still have it! (will be gone under R&R). Too bad if you feel MSNBC wasn’t the propaganda machine you have got used to with Fox. Leave your misdirected indignent paranoia at home and live up to the claim that you want this to be the country of freedom and free speech, even when it doesn’t follow what YOU want.

  79. Mr. Jones says:

Minorities on stage do not the minorities that are not in the photos of the crowds across the U.S. Condoleeza Rice is the best hope for the Republicans to display any sense of diversity. She spoke to all people. The bulk of the other speakers were devoid of content that resonates with minorities who don’t feel obligated to the Anglo community that allows them to participate….if they stay in their places and allow the Anglos to remain in control without any serious threat of being subjected to a minority who remembers the struggle the overwhelming majority of minorities face daily. They may be good people, but they don’t speak to the issues that are important to the socially conscious masses they have left behind.

  80. Scott says:

    1. FOX NEWS 2.699*
    2. MSNBC 1.199
    3. CNN 677
    4. HLN 351

MSNBC’s bias coverage replacing the bulk of minority and women RNC speakers with liberal attacks and commercials was offensive and perhaps the lowest thing I’ve ever seen in news coverage. No wonder Fox News is beating all of their competition in the ratings.

It’s time to consider boycotting MSNBC advertisers.

    1. GPenn says:

LOL, yea, because so many that think like you are watching MSNBC. I don’t think you have given enough thought to that strategy.

  81. Pat Kittle says:

The idiocy from both sides is deafening.

The Earth is literally in its worst ecological catastrophe in 65,000,000 years.

Meanwhile, the humanoid population of the US continues to explode, thanks to open borders and & the high birthrates of immigrants (legal & otherwise). And despite the fact that most Americans’ oppose massively unsustainable immigration, the political hacks on both sides try to out-pander each other.

And all the while not a word is said about whether we should let Israel connive us in starting yet another trumped-up war for its self-delusional benefit.

  82. MSMBC is an embaressment to the TV world. Just where do they find those disgusting bottom feeders? And some of these airheads are Professors in our colleges..Heaven help us. I generally shut them off because I must go to the bathroom and regurgetate. Has MSNBC ever tried to hire some intelligent talkers? It’s no wonder they are in the swamp of TV programming!

  83. Bob says:

MSNBC – the Faux News of the left. Lenln would be too far to the right to get a job with that outfit.

  84. GPenn says:

I guess the start of the Dems Convention blows your theory out of the water. They are cutting minor speakers out of that coverage too. Do you plan on covering that with a headline too?

  85. TheRicker says:

Liberal Democrats can’t spell or understand viewpoints. This is why they cut away and why this comment section is laden with spelling and grammatical errors from their patheticly small corner.

  86. Your right BUT remember all OBOMA has to do is show up act like a rock star !

And have spent their lives that way and he didn’t mean a single mom that works but still needs a little help like food stamps or help with fuel he’s talking about these people who lived in my park for months against rich people because they live off the rich or they would have been looking for work.

MSNBC Host: Obama’s terrorism summit is a ‘dog and pony show’
You know it’s bad when President Obama has even lost the support of MSNBC. MSNBC Host Andrea Mitchell basically called the White House’s Summit on “Countering Violent Extremism” a farce during her show Wednesday. “Here he has the summit, no heads of government coming, the participation has not been at a particularly high level. We’ll have […]
