Wasserman Schultz opponent accuses her of ‘hypocrisy’ on transparency

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) has her own transparency problems.

The Democratic National Committee chairwoman attacked Mitt Romney Monday for not having released his tax returns, yet she has ignored calls from her Florida Republican challenger, Karen Harrington, to do the same since April.

“While asking for Governor Romney to release his past tax returns, and In keeping with the spirit of President Obama’s call for ‘full transparency,’ we ask Congressman Wasserman Schultz to release her own tax returns,” Harrington’s campaign said in a statement.

Wasserman Schultz’s refusal to release her own tax return “screams of hypocrisy,” according to Harrington.

She joined the head of the Massachusetts Democratic Party, John Walsh, in Boston to discuss the former Massachusetts governor’s “history of fighting transparency,” according to the Weekly Standard.

Rumors bordering on calling Romney a tax cheat have circulated since a Vanity Fair article surfaces claiming Romney has been less than honest about his wealth.

Democrats have sought to make Romney look dishonest about his offshore banking.
