A new Obama campaign ad attacks Mitt Romney for his support for overturning Roe v. Wade and for wanting to cut off funding to Planned Parenthood.
The ad also states that Romney believes in banning abortion in cases of rape and incest.
“For women, Planned Parenthood means life-saving cancer screenings and family-planning services,” the narrator says.
But the ad fails to mention that Planned Parenthood turns around and uses taxpayer dollars for contributions to Democratic candidates – giving over $1 million in the 2010 election cycle — based on data from the Center for Responsive Politics. According to The Hill, Planned Parenthood vowed to spend $1.4 million to help the Obama campaign attack Romney’s abortion stance.
And according to former Planned Parenthood administrator turned pro-life activist Abby Johnson, the organization fraudulently diverts public dollars intended for cancer screenings, pregnancy tests and the treatment of sexually transmitted diseases to providing abortions .
But the ad’s effectiveness could be muted by the fact polling data suggests that those calling themselves pro-choice are at an all-time low.
