Rep. Allen West, R-Fla., told constituents at a forum over Memorial Day weekend in a video captured by the Shark Tank blog that the focus should be on President Obama’s cocaine use and not his controversial actions during the Iraq War.
West was forced out of the U.S. Army in 2004 in the wake of an Aug. 2003 incident where he fired his pistol past an Iraqi detainee’s head after his men had roughed him up.
The congressman has no apologies for his actions, saying he was trying to protect his men, and that he would have made the same decision today.
“If you have a problem with that then you have to find something else to do,” West said. “If you guys want to go around talking about what happened 9 years ago to me, let’s talk about the president doing blow.”
