The Democratic Party’s Bad Week

Looks like Senate Democrats weren’t the only ones having an embarrassing week.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) sent out this video before the long weekend reminding voters that President Barack Obama didn’t have such a hot week, either, after 14 high-profile Democrats spoke out about his attacks on GOP nominee Mitt Romney’s tenure at private equity firm Bain Capital.

Obama has said hammering Romney’s affiliation with Bain will be a key target of his reelection strategy, despite calls from fellow Dems to stop the attacks and revelations that his campaign has raised large sums from Bain and other private equity firms. As Politico’s Mike Allen and Jim Vandihei note, the Obama 2012 ticket’s games and gaffes have allowed Romney to catch up to catch up to the normally impressive Obama campaign.

Memorial Day weekend and the corresponding Congressional recess couldn’t have come at a better time for The Democratic Party.

Fortunately for the GOP, even if the Obama 2o12 campaign and the Democratic Party come back ‘Fired Up and Ready to Go’ after a nice long break next week, a big win for Scott Walker and the GOP in the Wisconsin recall on Tuesday, June 5 will likely keep the GOP’s momentum going well into the summer.
