Democrats have chosen to expand the “War on Women” by expanding the 1994 Violence Against Women Act to include illegal immigrants, gays and lesbians, and those living on Indian reservations.
The law has been unanimously renewed by Congress each time it has come up for a vote since 1994.
Sen. Barbara Mikulski, D-Md., has called the expanded bill “refreshed legislation”, and Senate Democrats insist this should be a bipartisan issue. But the reality is that they consider their political agenda as being as important as protecting women who are victims of violence.
While House Republicans have remained focused on preventing violence against women with their legislation, Democratic Senators including Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., have attacked the GOP legislation because they say it “excludes people.”
Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., testified that the Democrats are trying to “distract citizens from real issues and give their talking heads something to spatter about on cable television.”
